I recently tried remaking one of the first oekakis I ever did. At least one of the first ones to contain a furry titty. Posting work done outside the applet still feels a little like cheating, but it only seemed appropriate to post it here.
Remember that fox girl from 20 years ago? This is her now. Feel old yet?

The flavour's a bit off but I'm quite surprised at how much like real smoking it is. At first I was quite unimpressed with all the juice leaking all over the place but after reading the instructions again I've learned to take slow easy drags and not end up with nicotine from concentrate all over my mouth and charger. I broke down and bought some real smokes today though...

I'm wondering why so many people are having trouble with java. If I get a new computer is there a chance of screwing it up by installing java?

Java won't screw up your computer, but Java has always been a pain to install due to all the nag screens to install browser enhancements and crap. Just unselect the "value-added" software upon installation and you'll be fine.

The problem is that Oracle is changing Java's security profiles again, and that's causing some old Java stuff to stop working. Supposedly, support for unsigned applets (such as the oekaki paint programs) will be dumped within a year or two, and then none of the applets will work anymore. Time will tell if there will be a workaround, but I have a feeling oekaki's days will soon be numbered.

Unfortunately, the guy who was working with me on the HTML5 clone of PaintBBS has disappeared. Too bad, because it was amazingly close to the original applet.

Brentos, there are all kinds of E-cigs in all kind of qualities. The "starter kits" usually leak and don't last long. I got Gaby the Protank and it doesn't leak. She also makes her own coils.

We were in a vaping convention last week and got a bag ful of free samples. Gaby only uses the 0-nicotine ones, so if you want a couple of bottles of 3%, 8% and 12% nicotine juices I can mail them to you.

Oekaki was such a popular thing when it came out, I can't believe there won't be any kind of replacement for it. But then again there does seem to be very few people interested in it these days. But still, drawing stuff on the internet, what's not to love about that? I could see there being some kind of revival some day... Or maybe this truly is the end times. Doom and gloom and all that...

I really like your take on that style of art. I was going to ask if the reference was from the 1920's but I see it was done in 1896. I'm no expert but I'd say that artist was ahead of his/her time.
