I tried to make it as disturbingly funny as the first version, but I guess I failed.

Then there week we could have a medical mystery that baffles the medical staff, several treatments fail and even make the symptoms worse… until the eccentric but genial protagonist comes up with the brilliant diagnostic and saves the patient in the last minute

I watched Dr. House only once, together with my sister.
After five minutes, my sister's diagnosis was that the patient had leprosy.
Dr. House needed DAYS until he arrived at the same conclusion, while giving a lot of wrong treatments to the patient during that time.
So I didn't bother watching it again, because my sister is even better than him. smiley

And this is the case of most TV series (and many movies too). That's why I think episode writers are geniuses. Their objective is to entertain (not teach you sound medical practice) and most do that well! smiley

Besides, nothing and no one can replace that personally insecure, sarcastic, manipulative and misanthropic Greg. That and the characters' funny stories/misadventures are the only things I like in the show. I generally don't care much about the medical part itself. Remove this "added value" and it'll be another horribly boring medical drama à la ER, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, etc. smiley

I agree with what you say about TV and movie writers, most of the stories are really good. What bugs me about today's entertainment is that most of the characters seem to have the exact same personalities. Everybody's so stone cold serious all the time the bastards.

I'd write a comic if somebody wanted to draw it. I'd call it 'Apartment'! But we could argue about that later.
